Youth SVP and B-Attitudes

JaCy is also an umbrella term for the services that our young people give to our island community as they live their lives in Christ. The vision is ‘youth leading youth to the heart of the church’. SVP is one way we can help you to live your life as a young Catholic. Get involved with Youth SVP and B-Attitude. Both are youth age focused arms of Saint Vincent De Paul (SVP).

Youth St Vincent de Paul (YSVP) is aimed at 11-14 year olds and B-Attitude SVP is aimed at 14-18 year olds. The motto is ‘turning concern into action’.

To give some examples of YSVP and B-Attitude SVP projects:

Advent Giving Tree project

The youth prepare giving trees for each of our island churches. They promote these within the churches, encouraging parishioners to donate a voucher for the needy.

Meal Deal project

During the spring term the youth are involved in advertising and running a Meal Deal collection in each of our island churches. Meals are donated by parishioners and the youth collect these for distribution by SVP.

Volunteering at the Little Sisters of the Poor

Over the years there have been many volunteering opportunities coordinated through YSVP

  • Bingo
  • Giving out cups of tea
  • Helping with serving lunch
  • Nail painting
  • Helping with the Little Sisters of the Poor summer fete
  • Christmas carols for the residents
